Amsel





You can see, between above and below, that Amsel worked closely to reference photos (well, he had to—famous faces had to be as recognizable as possible and be rendered quickly for deadlines).

Richard Amsel was a giant--just think how different Drew Struzan's career might have been had Amsel not died so terribly young.

One of my most prized possessions is the original art for the poster he did for LUCKY LADY, a truly execrable movie, but an incredible poster.
