The Draper Method

Herbert Draper is a favorite artist of many. His figure studies are appreciated nearly as much as his full-blown paintings. Here are a few for those of you who are fans of the Draper method.

    def one of the best of his era and imo belongs in the same class as Waterhouse, Leighton, Alma-Tadema etc etc. nice stuff Thomas, thanks!

    I've seen this guy's work before, but I guess I just lumped him in with Waterhouse. Well now that I have a name to go with it, I've been stocking up via Google images like theres no tomorrow. It's like you've opened the flood gates for me.

    It's surprising how few Drapers you can find in museums. There should be something of his in every major museum. I don't know why he never achieved an Alma Tadema level of recognition. Anyway, great post.

    Tom, not just the museums. Why in the world that more books aren't available for him and a hundred and one other fabulous artists is beyond me.
