We just got back from a 2 day college orientation for my daughter who leaves for university in August—which will break my heart. Daddys' and daughters' bonds don't come any tighter than ours.
But I have to say I was so impressed with the degree of compassion, competence and professionalism that the school displayed concerning the care of my daughter and her education. If my daughter HAS to be away somewhere, this university will be the best possible place under the circumstances.
I have so much respect (and envy) for educators and their academic world.
I love Elwood Smith's cartoon illustrations, but I would NOT want to be anywhere near the beach portrayed here on this record sleeve from an album with a variety of musical artists.
We'll come back to an appreciation of Smith's illustrations later.

My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.
