I haven't looked closely at these strips for many years. As I scan them, I pay close attention to each panel, and the thrill comes back as when I first clipped these. And to have eight years worth (400 Sundays) of Kelly art to peruse through is a joy.
I feel that Kelly had his renaissance of creativity from 1966 through 1969/70. But I still hope that his best period of artwork and frivolity (1951/52/53) will someday be reprinted in full Sunday color. Sadly, I think I read that the new reprint series only plans to do the Sundays in black and white, which is what we've already seen in all the reprint books over the years.
Lovely. Just lovely.
