Speaking of magnificent, this is an early watercolor by Walter Crane. Can you imagine where to begin in visualizing and rendering such a powerful composition?
I think he started from lines of perspective going to the sun (but actually reaching horizon to the left of it outside the frame), then he started to put where horses should be (it is interesting that from left to right they rocket up like on trampoline. I am shure that there was guideline that they (except those on background) were not allowed above to reach this effect). And it was the basis for powerful composition.
The horses are a little strange :-)
