These are the remaining illustrations of Warwick Goble that I've been posting for the beautiful 1912 edition of The Complete Poetical Works of Geoffrey Chaucer.
Thank you so much for these wonderful Chaucer pics. Been searching the web for years to find these complete and in large format! Thanks Faery much!!! You don't by any change have the Goble Pentamerone pics up your sleeve :-)? I've got the other Goble titles downloaded from Archive.org, you're more than welcome to have a copy in case of being tied up in deadlines, so you can keep on posting on your blog... Just send an email :-) Thanks again! Saahabi
Some are great (the ship) but the figures are weaker I think.
ReplyDeleteI think it's as one of our astute commenters commented, that it's the sum of the parts that makes the whole of Goble interesting.
ReplyDeleteYou may be right :-)
ReplyDeleteI bet he's working pretty small too. Those ink lines are looking rather wide in places.
ReplyDeleteStill - really nice - beautiful colour and atmosphere.

Stunning. The best set of Gobles I've seen. Thank you for posting these.
