John Severin, a grand veteran of the legendary EC comics era is also grandly appreciated for his artistic work on the 1971 Kull the Conqueror comic book series, inking his sister Marie Severin's grand pencils. That was also the case for the grand portfolio set published by Goblin Graphix in 1973
Directly below is one of the plates from that portfolio and below that are some graphics from the ads and such that ran in Mirk-Wood Times—the same publishers as the portfolio.
Marie and John Severin — Kull — 1973
And below, I've posted this before, but why not again — Severin's original pen and ink and zip-a-tone art of Kull as king.
Severin's great, but unfortunately I discovered his artwork as a kid in the pages of Cracked Magazine (a rip-off of Mad Magazine). I have since discovered his other work but I just can't take any of it seriously. I suppose Cracked conditioned me so I'm always looking for the joke, which is unfortunate because he's a fabulous artist.

My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.
