Bedeviled

I swear to thee, I kid thee not,
Spam hath risen like devil's rot.

A hundred per hour or more,
Beyond my power, around me soar.

I cannot focus while this doth happen,
I must do sumpin before I snappen.

Donn P. Crane — Bedeviled

I ain't kidding folks, I just had 80 spams in only 10 minutes make their way through the filter. This isn't what I signed on for. I long for intelligent discourse, not for discourteous gibberish. Maybe it's time to pull up stakes and migrate elsewhere.

  1. Thom, if you use the captcha method, your Spam will probably disappear.

  2. I REALLY wish I knew what to suggest, Thom. Is there an option to require a CAPTCHA or something else available? I normally hate those, but clearly something needs to be done.

Hang in there, we're rooting for you.

  3. Hi guys. I REALLY hate captcha. I like to leave comments on other blogs, except those that use captcha. Between these kind of issues and 'new and improved streamlined formats', I'm starting to miss the fun that blogging used to be.

  4. Like I said, I hate captcha as well. But I hate the idea of losing your blogs more.

  5. Sorry this is happening to you. This is one of the problems about the Web that heralds the future - for every open platform we have that allows easy communication, we pay a devil's price because someone will try to exploit and ruin it.

  8. I have encountered the same disgusting experience of being targeted through my Blog" the Linosaurus" recently resulting in a jammed email box. I think the peak (350+ spam mails in a couple of hours) is over after a few days but it is spoiling my interest in Blogging. I have no clue for a cure. Moving is ?

  9. Hah! I love that picture! Too bad about the spam. you need to banish it with a handy computer person. The best spam blocker programs? I don't know I don't have a blog yet...

  10. Thom, I hope something can be done about the spam. Your blog is simply one of my favorite things. It's color in a world of grey. It's clever and insightful in a world of grossness. It's always a delight in a humdrum day.

  11. Friends, you are all so nice, but gee, Glen, you win the prize for gettin' me motivated again to battle my way through the hordes from hell. What nice words. I'll keep tryin' for a while :>)

    Thanks, y'all.
