Taking the Tube

I don't know if this is a real poster, or one that somebody cobbled together digitally. But what better place for dark humor than underground? (I love taking the tube!)

  1. Thom, just what are you planning to do with the missus, now?

  2. The misses is safe. It's a couple of my clients that need to worry.

  3. Oh, I just HAD to dig into this. The web claims it's genuine, from 1977, and it may well be the kind of humor that LU could use back then. The painting original is in Parliament: http://www.parliament.uk/worksofart/artwork/frank-o-salisbury/henry-viii-and-catherine-of-aragon--before-papal-legates-at-blackfriars1529/2590
The irony, of course, is it's not actually Anne Boleyn or Catherine Howard, but his first wife, Katherine, who died naturally (of a broken heart?) before Boleyn was executed.

  4. Hey, thanks Malcom! The thing that actually made me question its authenticity was the use of the text. It seemed too big, too close to the edge, with no quotation marks or end period. That seemed like what someone would do in two seconds in photoshop. But I thought the humor COULD be LU.

I just didn't want to take the time to research it, but I'm glad you did. Thanks again!
