His Royal Puss

This painting has been loose in my morgue without notation of artist. My apologies to whomever the artist may be, but it's a lovely homage to Holbein's portrait of King Henry viii and I'm guessing that is a feline Jane Seymour fronting His Royal Puss.

Anon lets us know this is by Suzanne Duranceu—thanks!

And below, for comparison sake, the original iconic portrait by Hans Holbein the Younger, 1540.

Actually, that is not Jane Seymour, but the next wife after, also painted by Hans Holbein the Younger. This portrait of Anne of Cleves was commissioned during negotiations for their engagement, so Henry could see what she looked like, before he agreed.

Hello. I've been perusing the site for a few days and came upon this charming piece. Searching google images for 'renaissance cat painting' turns up a link to Suzanne Duranceu, whose artwork this is.
