Hopper

Many of us are familiar with the paintings of the American realist Edward Hopper, but his commercial graphic work is not so well known. Personally I find more satisfaction in this of his work than his well known oeuvre. But that's just me.

I feel that Batman is lurking in the shadows

Evocative enough to make me seasick

It's so gratifying to see the thing an artist interprets:

  1. Bruce Wayne was only about three years old in 1921! What was he doing lurking in the shadows at that age?

  2. Now now you're being literal. And besides, I remember stories of his father as the first Batman. And besides it may have been graphics like these that inspired the young Bob Kane.

  3. I had no idea Hopper did commercial work. Very nice.
