What a beautiful painting,I love the clouds and the blue of the sky. The trees and the animals in the background. The resemblance between the alien natives is astonishing. James Cameron most likely was a fan of other science fiction stories and art. I read a reprint of an old Weird Fantasy comic drawn by Joe Orlando in which the alien monsters looked like they could have been the prototype for the way H.R.Giger designed the creature in Alien.

My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.
