Eurasian

A Gil Elvgren print, probably my favorite of his work, probably because it's less of a pin-up, more of a fine study. It looks similar to Andrew Loomis' style of painting.

Stunningly beautiful.

Very nice. Classic and a little strange.

Despite the nudity it's the most restrained piece he ever did. Not a hint of "mayo" in the paint.

The picture was hanging in Gil's home. I thought it absolutely beautiful. He did a few others that were reminiscent of Degas. Gil did some great work outside of the pin-up genre wherein he used a different signature with his full name. I've often thought what an even greater painter he would have become if he concentrated on his impressionistic skills which were already formidable. The background of a portrait of my wife is pure Monet.

An old friend missing Gil.
