it always amazes me when members of my family say ( same thing every single year ), " We didn't know what to get you, " usually accompanied by socks or a jumper, or some equally as useless attempt at a present. and every single year they get exactly the same reply: " You've known me for the best part of fortyfive years, and you DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BUY ME FOR CHRISTMAS?!! BUY ME A &@#£-ING BOOK!!!! "

oh, yes. every year's a Book Christmas in the House of Joe, Thomas!

Hi Thom,
Books are always on our core Christmas list. I love to give them as gifts.

My friend Kate always requests the gift of "words" at Christmas. When she opens the wrapping on a new book she sniffs the edge like pure nourishment.

Books, books, books—I love books. And I never get any for Christmas. Like Joe, alla time I get socks and gloves and scarves. Bless everybody's hearts, but I love books!

That's why you have a house, to keep your books dry.
