Look to the Cartoonists

It's been kind of a rough week here at Lake Woebegon — troubles and tough situations for family and friends.

When you're feeling down and blue, look to the cartoonists for wisdom:

Robert Crumb — Singin' in the Bathtub — 1996

I love Robert Crumb's art -- it is whimsical, but a bit sexist. Not too offensively, but okayish.

This was collected in The Sweeter Side of R. Crumb. I'm not sure that Mr. Nicey-Nice really has a sweeter side, but he's definitely inspired by the blues and by the ladies.

I'm sorry that you're not having a good week, Thom.

I hope that things take a turn for the better soon.

Thanks guys, it's just been one of those weeks, not just for me, but like I say—family and friends. Worrying about other people is a trouble of its own.

Things are bound to get better—it's a good world!

Hi Thom,

Thank you for thinking of me, and everyone else having rough times. I love this little cartoon, and water and song has a way of washing away our troubles!

Annie, you are indeed one of those I was thinking of. I hope you're singing today.
