Last post, there was a comment from ToB that reminded me of one of my favorite character renderings by Nick Cardy, back at the tail end of the Silver Age of Comics. Lilith, an empathic clairvoyant who joined up with the original Teen Titans was drawn and written as a mysterious and caring teen wonder, and I, well, I sorta had a mid-teen crush on this paper doll, thanks to Cardy's drawing style.
I wonder, did girls have crushes for Superboy, or Brainiac 5, or Robin the Teen Wonder? Wally West? Hawk and Dove? AquaLad?

Thanks for the mention and link, Thom. I'm not quite sure how I feel to discover that I haven't quite outgrown the curious practice of 'responding' to GGA. Some pics can still work their spell on me. Glad to see I wasn't the only one to succumb to the magic of a well-drawn, well-turned ankle. Cheers.
I can't speak for girls and comics - in my day (late 70s/early 80s) my friends and I were not comic book readers.
But we did watch cartoons religiously. For us, Battle of the Planets (the watered down Gatcheman) was THE show and we all adored Mark, the leader of the heroes.
I had other favorites: Tarzan and Flash Gordan... perhaps I had a thing for manly men. *smile*
I still have a crush on her. nobody drew the chicks like Nick Cardy drew the chicks.
Kristine, hi! Manly Men! I've heard there's fewer and fewer of those kind of guys around, or at least ones who have hearts of gold.
Joe!!!!! So good to hear from you. Email me and tell me how things is goin'.
