Beyond Oz

John R. Neill helped make the Oz books the success they were. Baum's stories were good, but Neill's artwork helped define the characters. Here he illustrates Evangeline by Longfellow in a 1909 edition, one hundred years ago. He was pretty good beyond Oz.

I got a close look at his OZ illustrations at the Internet Archive. Very nice cartooning, wonderful style.

"Close-Look" always perks up my ears. I know I should know this , but what exactly is the Internet Archive?
