Guiding Lights

A stellar 1975 cover by Neal Adams, one of my favorites, is a classic iconic layout.

I've never known Neal Adams to be influenced by anybody, but I do detect a nod to Esteban Marato, who was turning out some beautiful work for the Warren mags around this time.

Adams was one of the guiding lights for me in my younger years.

I can see why you would say there is some Esteban Maroto styling in this. I am a fan of his, but it is tough to find his stuff nowadays. I am waiting for the Creepy and Eerie reprints to get to the issues with his work in them.

I remember seeing Maroto's stuff when it first came out in the Warren magazines and being blown away by the design and adult content so beautifully blended. It was one of those cases where I thought black and white was better than color.
