my absolute favourite picture of Black Canary, and one of my very favourite Alex Toth pictures. I agree with you completely, Thomas, I would love to see new Toth work. terrific post, sir.
It's a great piece, by, in my opinion, the greatest comic book artist of his generation, and, to put it mildly--or if you prefer, euphemistically--a very complex figure.
Howard, thanks for commenting. I know Toth had a really big influence in your life. Soon, I'm going to post a later Toth story that shows, in my opinion, how a 'super-hero' story should be done. I'm sure you've been interviewed to pieces about your take on Toth, but I'd love to hear more about your personal experiences with him. Is that documented somewhere?

My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.

There are so many artists' work that I miss seeing anew. I feel like an old fart. Thanks Joe for the stuff you're doing.
