I doubt that I am alone in appreciating your weaving your personal relationship with these works in with your presentation of the images. I just wish that I could have wandered through that same store.
Thanks Daniel. When I first determined that I was going to make this an autobiographical examination of the pictorial arts I surprised myself that so many images were integral to my psyche, with specific and fond memories attached. I'm sure everyone has that experience to one degree or another, and I enjoy seeing and reading others' experiences in that way. But images really are my life and that store was like an emporium of the imagination. The owners were printmakers as well as importers and I knew a good thing when I saw it. I have more of that stuff to share.

My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.
