The man who gave us so many scenes from the worlds of our solar system and beyond, Chesley Bonestell, also gave us otherworldly scenes of planet Earth.

Yes, even the pagoda has a touch of space base, space rocket about it.

Oddly, though, given how so many of his images were about lifeless bleakness in a harsh unforgiving universe, the mountains're almost like amorphic masses of sentient energy, the trees like a parade of curious scientist black lacquer spiny creatures, come to investigate the strange artificial interloper newly arrived on their world.
