Li-An said...: Well, there are two books translated. I've got one with sundays color strips. The second one was in black and white.The two are sold out from years. There are a lot of artists fond of Herriman's work in France but the editors seem not very courageous...; February 9, 2010 at 9:24 AM
Thomas Haller Buchanan said...: Herriman's art is wonderful, but his fun with language, and deconstructing of it, is just as wonderful. It must be very hard to translate Krazy himself/herself. A 'straight' translation without the idioms would be a shame. The translator would need a krazy sense of humor.

Li-An said...: It was not bad :-) The translator tried to manage the way Herriman plays with words and sounds.

Thomas Haller Buchanan said...: There's even something about the personality of the lettering/calligraphy that would be hard to duplicate in another language. Although I think Arabic or Chinese might look nice, the translation of the idioms would be horrendous.; February 9, 2010 at 12:41 PM
