I love the colors and the patterning in the background design and the fabric of the dress, a cross between the feeling of an illuminated manuscript and a modern 1930s, complete with the woman's expressive face and stylized "decorum."
Some of my top-most favorite illustrations of all time are when Leyendecker staged scenes in pre-modern eras. As you say they were a cross between Leyendecker's time and Renaissance times.

My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.
