Crown of the Year

'Tis the summer solstice, a magical time, also known as MidSummer. I've never understood why the first day of summer is called 'mid', but then there's many a mystery in my little world.

The summer solstice is called midsummer just like the winter solstice is called midwinter - because it's the midpoint between the spring and autumnal equinoxes.

I sorta reasoned that out, even before ya told me twice, but it's still a dumb name — it should be midequinox.

"A Midequinox Night's Dream." Alright, it lacks a little something.
