The Whip
I don't remember what story this is from, but Donn Crane made this illustration enjoyable enough that it could be an inspiration for a dozen different writers to go a dozen different directions with stories. I love the demon with the whip. Oh, I love it all. What a great composition with that whip traversing the panel.

I dare say this is an illustration from Edmund Spenser's "The Fairie Queene," showing Lucifers's (Pride's) carriage being drawn by the other six Deadly Sins. Each Sin rides a beast appropriate to itself: Sloth on an ass, Gluttony on a pig, Dishonesty on a goat, Greed on a camel, Envy on a wolf, and Anger on a lion.
Let's dare say it! Sounds good to me.
There could still be a dozen directions the tale could take.
Thanks Brer!
