1515 Rhinocerus

No time to write. I just think this is such a cool print of a rhinocerus by Albrecht Durer.

Old Albrecht did some pretty amazing animal portraits; one of a hare, and a beetle. This one isn't as realistic (had he ever seen one?), but it is still very cool!

It looks like maybe he'd seen a head, and the overall proportions aren't far off, but that body armor is pretty amazing.

Durer has lasting appeal, 500 years from now people will still enjoy this print!

i just saw this as i was combing through blogs linked to Mr.Door Tree's blog. love that scan! i once made a t-shirt of it for myself from a scan of a postcard i bought. should the opportunity arise once more, i'll have this one to work from. thanks!
