1966 was a very good year for comic and fantasy collecting. It was a golden age for many of us. In the midst of all that, Flash Gordon #1 was published, with Al Williamson channeling Alex Raymond, and oh it was heaven.
I'm not posting the whole story, nor am I necessarily showing these pages in consecutive order. These are just some favorite panels from my golden age.
How amazing were those books???? I still lament that he only did three issues. The fact that this book just got buried under all the superhero fodder of the year (which I loved, don't get me wrong) is such a shame.
Al Williamson´s Flash is great, I´m a big fan of his work. I never had the chance to see those original KFS books, but fortunately found those stories reprinted on a spanish edition from the 80´s.
Thanks for keeping all these Golden Age artist visible. As an artist myself, I really enjoy the visual sensibilities from that time period, and more often than not, find myself turning to those artist when I need inspiration. I also liked that you posted one of 1980's Science Digest covers, between SD and Omni, they really showcased some great scifi/fantasy work.

My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.

Wow! I remember reading tis as a kid. If I recall correctly, the setting of the story moved to the kingdom of Frigia.
