King Kong Koncept

This is the earliest known rendering of the King Kong koncept. That Amazon woman over there didn't quite make it to the movie, darn it.

So first I'm thinkin' “Yeah, but we got Fay Wray!” but then I'm thinkin' “Wait… Fay Wray as an Amazon! We didn't get Fay Wray as an Amazon!

Anyway, I'd say that this terrifying conception of Kong ran into two problems. First, the film would have been banned almost everywhere. Second, Cooper and Schoedsack wanted audiences typically to look at beasts with greater sympathy — consider the message of The Most Dangerous Game.

Okay, now I'm back to wondering where I can get a copy of Black Moon. (Fay Wray as a voodoo goddess!)
