Optimism and Hard Work

I worry about the economy even though there isn't the least thing I can do about it, and I dread the thought of my daughter launching into a world that is on the verge of shutting down. But then I think of the hard times of the past and how society weathered them and prospered. Optimism and hard work will get us through.

Just a scant few years into the great depression and industry was chugging mightily as Fortune smiled down upon us . . .

Of course the clouds of war were gathering on the horizon . . . crap.

Hi Thom,

I worry, too, for my son, who is near the same age as your daughter. The world seems a scarier place, and then I get back to that confidence, that yes, we have weathered much as a society, and somehow, life will keep on track.
