Pygmalion Complex

I think there may be a bit of a Pygmalion complex in most artists, and as the creator of Annie Fanny, well —yeah!

Finally, a label (below) that fits perfectly! (snort, chuckle)

What was saying Crumb in his introduction?
Thank you Thomas! :)

Always felt that Kitchen Sink showed bad judgement on this title by running that cover. Its explicitness precluded selling it to kids and yet adults who didn't pay much attention were undoubtedly disappointed in the 25+ year old all-ages reprints...which kids would have loved if they could have bought it! I remember having to talk the local head shop guy into selling it to me because he didn't want to get in trouble.

Sim, I'm glad you asked that. I had scanned that intro, but wasn't sure if I should post it, but post it I shall, in a few minutes.

Steve, I see your point, a very good one. As you say, bad judgement. Yeah, I bought my copy from the adult only section of the head shop, and only because of the cover. The rest of the comic was as innocent as apple pie. Still I love the cover—I miss having new Kurtzman stuff . . . and Elder stuff . . . and Wood stuff . . . and Kubert stuff . . . and Kirby stuff . . . and Stevens stuff . . . and . . . and so many people's stuff. Brilliant people should be allowed another 20 years of productivity, right off the shelf.

Yeh, Steve, you're totally right about the cover. It's a nice little gag but it's way not in the standard Kurtzman's level of humor. Didn't buy the book because of this (and me being an adult at the time!) ...
