One Man & One Woman

Part of the concept of the golden age of illustration was that there were so many opportunities for illustrators to work their magic. Magazines, by the scores, relied on illustrators to help make their words come to life.

Henry J. Soulen was an illustrator of the exotic—foreign lands and ancient times. Here, the Ladies Home Journal utilizes his art to help relate the beginnings of today's marriage customs.
