Peas with Honey

We'll come back to the Infinite Collection at some point, but if you're familiar with this blog at all, you know how I like to keep things eclectic. If I don't jump around and rattle the cage then you'll think I'm a dead parakeet.

Wallace Tripp — Peas and Honey — um, 1970s?

Isn't that a Lewis Carroll verse? Nice artwork.

I dunno. Is it?

Apparently it's by Ogden Nash, but I'm sure Carroll wrote something extremely similar.

There seems to be a difference of opinion on the matter. I see that Spike Milligan and A.A. Milne are also credited with writing it. The mystery deepens.

A a teenager in 1960s Britain, I clearly remember Spike Milligan saying it, but I would vote for 'Anon.' One blogger claims it to be a "verse in a traditional American folksong from around 1800."
